12 Dec Geotek Win X-ray and Age Dating Project
Geotek Ltd (Geotek) were awarded a geohazard (visual) core logging, MSCL, X-ray and age dating project from Geoquip Marine, for the EMEPRL project offshore eastern Europe. We offer a bespoke core logging facility with a professional team of multi-disciplined geoscientists, sharing expertise in sedimentology, geological, geophysical and geotechnical interpretation. Along with the capability of visual core description for geohazard projects and associated age dating, our logging facility is equipped with the latest Geotek multi-sensor core logging technology for the non-destructive analysis of sediment and rock core. This includes our cabinet-based X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) systems, Multi-Sensor Core Logger (MSCL), visible and ultraviolet line-scan core photography, and spectral analysis including colour and hyperspectral near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) core scanning.

Geotek’s Core Logging Laboratory
Briony Shreeve, Geotek’s Lead Geoscientist says “It is excellent to be working with Geoquip and EMEPRL on this exciting oil and gas development prospect. Over the last few years we have been building our core logging laboratory to allow our customers to benefit from Geotek’s > 20 years of experience in core logging technology. The lab now offers a complete range of core logging services, including high resolution cross-polarised photography and quantitative colour assessment which are perfect accompaniments for geohazard core logging projects.”
