Location: Geotek HQ in Daventry or Rockwash Geodata in Llandudno, UK (with occasional UK and international travel)

About the Role

Geotek Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geoscientist with a passion for applied geology, data integration, and innovation. The role will play a key part in providing technical expertise, conducting geological analyses, and contributing to the success of our core scanning and consulting projects. You’ll have between five and 10 years’ experience in core analysis projects, a strong background in geoscience, proficiency in data interpretation, and a proven ability to lead and mentor junior team members.

Founded in 1994, Geotek Ltd is a world leader in non-destructive core analysis and geological instrumentation We provide solutions to majors within the Oil and Gas, Mineral Exploration, Geotechnical Engineering, and Research and Academia sectors worldwide. Our group includes Rockwash Geodata (Deganwy), enhancing our UK-based analytical footprint.

Key Responsibilities

– Lead geological projects from design to delivery, managing technical staff in the UK and overseas.

– Mentor junior geoscientists and geotechnicians, and contribute to team development.

– Co-ordinate closely with the Head of Geological Services, Consultancy Manager and clients to tailor solutions and communicate findings effectively.

– Design and evaluate geological workflows, integrating lab-based and imaging techniques.

– Maintain data quality and contribute to innovation in analytical processes.

– Work with data scientists to apply AI/ML analysis in a lab/field setting.

– Participate in occasional field deployment (onshore and offshore) or secondment overseas with other Geotek projects and teams. The frequency and duration of such travel and/or secondment will vary depending on project demands and organisational needs; typically up to 30 days.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

– BSc in Geoscience; MSc/PhD preferred.

– Five to ten years of progressive experience in geological services and project management.

– Comfortable evaluating data critically, and integrating datasets.

– Intermediate Python coding skills preferred.

– Strong communication, mentoring, project delivery skills and attention to detail.

– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges in geological projects.

– Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, in particular Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

– Fluency in English (written and verbal).

– Must have a full and clean driving license.

– Eligibility to work in the UK. Additionally Brazil or South East Asia desirable but not essential.

Salary and benefits are negotiable and will be commensurate with skills and experience.
