Geotek is seeking to fill a vacancy for a senior engineering designer, to assist in the engineering development of new equipment. Geotek is a small business (38 employees) based in Daventry that designs and builds automated machines for analysing geological samples taken from a variety of coring tools. The successful applicant will be expected to work from our site in Daventry, UK.

Since then Geotek have developed a world-class services division with laboratories and projects established all around the world. Geotek products and services are sold into the Energy, Mining, Mineral Exploration and Research and Academic sectors.

The primary duties for this position include:

  • Engineering Design, liaising with R&D and Production Departments
  • Designing new laboratory and field equipment associated with coring and core analysis
  • Modifying existing designs
  • Generating engineering drawings using ‘SolidWorks’ ready for component and system manufacture either in house or through external suppliers
  • Working closely with other engineers in the design, development and manufacture of new equipment

The candidate should be educated to degree level in an engineering subject and have a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in a design and engineering role. Proficiency in the use of ‘SolidWorks’ is preferable for this role as all our existing drawings are in this format. A good working knowledge of the performance characteristics of a variety of materials is essential, principally, aluminium, stainless steel, titanium and plastics.

There may also be opportunities for candidates with the right experience to contribute to the design of wireline (and other) coring tools as used in a wide range of scientific, oil and gas and mining industries.
