Penn State gets MSCL for Christmas
MSCL-S#167 with an Olympus Delta XRF, magnetic susceptibility, and natural gamma spectrometry sensors was installed in the Department of Geosciences at Pennsylvania State University, USA, in December 2013.
This system purchase was organised by Professor Michael Arthur (who Peter was happy to reconnect with!) but we understand it will be used by a number of groups for many different application. Peter and Melanie demonstrated the versatility of the system on split rock cores while the inventive staff and students dreamt up new ways to use the system for their own different applications--ask them about soil noodles. The desire to add other sensor systems in the near future was evident and we look forward to a return visit to an enthusiastic and renowned laboratory.
Mike Arthur and some of the team ready to log core!
