MSCL laboratory container installed for IFREMER expedition

On 9 October a Geotek core logging container complete with MSCL 65 was delivered to Brest, France to be loaded on the French Research Vessel Pourquoi pas? The ship is now at sea collecting cores as part of the BobGeo programme. Accustomed to being placed on a deck which is lashed by wind rain and sea, on this occasion the Geotek container will enjoy a sheltered life inside the enormous hanger on the Pourquoi pas. IFREMER scientist Mickaël Rovere took delivery of the complete system and will be operating it to analyse cores collected using the Calypso coring system.

IFREMER have had purpose-made end caps manufactured to seal their cores. These end caps (pictured below) are some of the best seen by Geotek and enable optimum quality data to be obtained from the cores.
