Beijing Visit

The Geotek Far East Tour continued in Beijing, where Peter and Melanie visited the China University of Petroleum, the Key Laboratory for Continental Dynamics (Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences), and the Institute for Geology and Geophysics (Chinese Academy of Sciences) to talk about the specific application of MSCLs and X-ray images to terrestrial and lacustrine systems. They also visited the 'Great Wall' and the 'Temple of Heaven' but no MSCL sales are envisaged! A stop at the China University of Geosciences let them catch up with former shipmate Prof. Xin SU (ODP Leg 204, China gas hydrate expedition GMGS1), who has some beautiful new laboratories.
