MSCL-S #103 Installation
On the 17th April Peter visited the Universidade Federal Fluminense in NiterĂ³i (Rio De Janeiro), Brasil to install MSCL-S #103. Several days were spent training staff and students in the use of the MSCL-S and discussing how the new core data obtained will help their research programs.
The standard logging system is equipped with sensors to measure the gamma density, P-wave velocity and magnetic susceptibility properties of marine sediment cores. The MSCL was acquired by Professor Alberto Figueiredo in the Geology department who will use the equipment with his colleagues for characterizing cores from a variety of fresh water and marine environments in and around Brasil.
