ETH Upgrade

28th January 2008

On the 28th January, John visited the ETH Technology University of Zurich, to upgrade their Multi Sensor Core Logger (MSCL-S #32).

John visited the Climate Geology department of the Institute of Geology and installed new P-wave Velocity and replaced the computer system for one with a superior operating specification. John also took time to maintain the mechanics and check the system calibrations.

MSCL(S) Upgrades and XYZ Installation

28th January 2008

On the 28th of January Peter and Melanie flew to Canberra.

Peter and Melanie visited Geosciences Australia to provide a track and centre section upgrade to MSCL-S #27 permitting the logging of core in both the horizontal and vertical orientations. They also received a computer and electronics upgrade with a larger storage capacity and faster processing.

Tromso maintenance visit

10th December 2007

On the 10th December, John visited the Geology department at Tromso University. John offered a maintenance check and training refresher for the operators.

John performed a maintenance check on their logger (MSCL-S #40) and Geoscan IV Linescan Imaging system. All sensors, electronics and mechanics on both were found to be operating well and recording accurate data. John also gave training on data manipulation and processing to the operators of the equipment.

Core imaging for BP

4th December 2007

On the 4th December, Peter and Melanie visited Anchorage in Alaska to image sediment cores for British petroleum. The Sediment cores were extracted from the North Slope of Alaska as part of a DOE funded hydrate project.
