The Norges Geologiske Undersøkelse (Norwegian Geological Survey) has received an extra-long MSCL-S. Peter and Melanie went to Trondheim in December to install the 'stretched' MSCL-S, which will take core sections up to 208cm long. Two people are required to load the heavy 11cm-diameter, 2-meter-long core sections onto the MSCL-S! This system has gamma density and magnetic susceptibility sensors together with the Geoscan linescan imaging system (leaving plenty of room for upgrades). Dr. Jochen Knies and colleagues at the NGU will use the MSCL-S on local sediments (lake, fjord, and shelf), as well as on rock cores (Norway has a lot of rock...)

Jochen, Martin, and Ivo with Peter... happy smiling (if a bit blurry) customers!
